AOST | Monthlong Commitment | Unlimited | OIC: N/A
AOST, the Association of Student Tutors, is a group of students seeking to make a difference in education around the Bay Area by providing quality tutors to students in need of help. AOST is looking for volunteers to tutor at Miller Middle School's Power Hour for an hour after school a week. At Miller Middle School, you will be tutoring from 3:15-4:00 PM in the Miller library. You will either be working with deferred students as a private tutor in Math, Language Arts, History, Science, or Foreign Languages, or roaming around the Library as a General Tutor, answering quick questions. The hours that you volunteer are tracked and will be sent to Emily on a monthly basis so she can give you points for them. We encourage all of you to sign up for this long-term event not only because it is a convenient way for you to earn points but also because it reflects both the academic and service aspects of CSF. It is also a crucial component of our chapter project centered around education. Artism Creativity Center | Monthly Commitment
Founded in 2012, Artism Creativity Center is a student-run, non-profit organization that combines artistic techniques and autism training tactics to create a program that teaches and encourages children with autism to express themselves and develop social recognition and communication skills through art. Volunteers teach them basic art techniques and aid them in their artistic journeys.
There is a monthly group session every month, from 3-4 hours. The exact date is sent out usually one week in advance.
On top of that, we also ask that each month volunteers hold a one-on-one session with their student, which they can plan with the student's parent. Time can vary, but we recommend it be around 1-1 1/2 hours.
Finally, we ask that each volunteer contact a local library regarding a monthly art display we do in local libraries. This doesn't require a huge time commitment and usually just requires a few emails to be exchanged.
If you are interested in participating in Artism Creativity Center, feel free to email [email protected].

Volunteering at the Calabazas Library | Weekly Commitment
There are various programs for teen volunteers:
As teen volunteers, monthly opportunities exist in attending teensReach meetings, which are open to teensReach members ages 13-18. TeensReach meets on the first Thursday of each month at 4pm in the library's Community Room. Snacks and drinks are provided and the meetings usually last an hour. They may include activities that can allow teens to socialize, do crafts, or discuss ideas. We also recently had officer elections, so teens can also run for office in the future (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer).
If a teen is at least 15 years old, they can be eligible to be trained as a Library Services teen volunteer and help out with tasks around the library such as shelving books and arranging items for display (merchandising). That is a potential weekly opportunity if their schedule permits.
Starting in March and lasting roughly until May, we will be offering a program on Saturdays called Kidz Kode. They are looking for teen volunteers who have taken AP Computer Science or have a thorough knowledge of Java to help kids with learning computer programming if that is something that interests your group.
In the summertime, we also had a summer reading program that teen volunteers helped get library customers signed up for and answered questions about.
If you would like to volunteer with the Calabazas library, please contact [email protected].
